Niwouinwouin is a young french musician from Nantes and currently living and working in London. His rich musical universe evolves between raging dancefloor hymns, electronic lullabies and atmospheric soundtracks. His tunes oscillates between humor, epic, narrative and dancing to create an incredibly yet eclectic body of work.
In 2008 he released his first captivating and euphoric album, "The Fall of the Super", an epic variation on the Super Hero theme,
available on free download on his label Ego Twister. He's now releasing a 7inch record, on the same label, that sums up in two awesome instrumental tracks all the goodness of his electronic pop: "Catastrophe!" and "Énergie, roche du ciel, radio rigolote".
The release of this EP is celebrated by a signed limited edition of 300 copies, as well as an animated video, recently nominated at the Young Illustrator Awards of Berlin 2009, that he co-directed with his brother Jean Jullien. "Catastrophe!" , visually as well as musically is a dancing culmination, orchestrated by legions of colored creatures, at the pace of an up-beat tempo, a distorted bass and an undoubtably efficient melody.
Niwouinwouin also takes part actively in numerous creative projects, alongside his own musical project. He did the soundtrack of Jean Jullien's movie "The Normality Issue" as well as the one for "Monsters", a short film that he co-directed with him. More recently, he composed the soundtrack for Jean's "Knock Knock" exhibition in Edinburgh , illustrating once more the complementarity of their universe. For these creations, Niwouinwouin chose a more subtle and cinematic approach, leaving for the time of a show his playful melodies and jolly beats, in favour of an excitingly dark and experimental album.
These three tracks from Shawn Davis strip electronic music down to its bare essence, presenting pointillist synths and icy beats. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 31, 2021
